An award-winning landscape architect with nearly 40 years of experience in the public and private sectors, and almost 25 years practicing landscape architecture, James has led the planning and design of hundreds of projects across Florida. His portfolio spans major roadway corridors, civic spaces, institutional campuses, mixed-use developments, recreational facilities, and specialized work in irrigation infrastructure, site lighting, and urban redevelopment. He is also an FDOT Pre-Qualified Consultant, FDOT TTC Advanced Certified, and an FLDEP Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector. In addition to being a LEED Accredited Professional, McCord is a CLARB Certified Landscape Architect, Certified Irrigation Consultant, Certified Arborist, and EPA WaterSense® Partner, bringing a uniquely comprehensive skill set to every project.
His project history includes leading the Lee County Gateways Landscape Master Plan, revitalizing downtown Cape Coral’s Club Square, developing campus-wide irrigation strategies for Florida Gulf Coast University, and managing large-scale park projects such as Oyster Creek Environmental Park and North Charlotte Regional Park. He has also overseen landscape and irrigation planning for regional hospitals, athletic facilities, environmental parks, and award-winning urban infill developments like the CVS Mixed-Use Project in Gainesville.
He holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor’s in Landscape Construction from Mississippi State University. His certifications include CLARB registration, FLDEP Qualified Stormwater Inspector, FDOT Pre-Qualified Consultant status, EPA WaterSense Partner, and TTC Advanced Certification.
