Position Overview:

Kapur is seeking a mid-level natural resources scientist to support environmental reviews, permit applications and project coordination. You will work with the natural resources team to draft technical documents, interpret ecological and cultural data, and ensure applications meet regulatory requirements. You will also participate in internal team meetings to discuss project progress, timelines, and permitting strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental reviews and coordinate permitting processes for utility projects.
  • Draft and compile technical documents and reports to supper permit applications.
  • Interpret and apply ecological data, cultural resource information, construction methods, compliance measures, and ecosystem plans.
  • Ensure permit applications include detailed project specific analysis to support regulatory approvals.
  • Participate in internal team meetings to discuss project progress, timelines, critical path tasks, and permitting strategies for restoration and mitigation projects.
  • Develop and prepare reports as required and/or requested.
  • Evaluate and understand permit requirements for projects including NEPA, HNI, and CWA.
  • Ensure leadership is kept appraised of actions, issues and progress on projects and reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental field such as botany, biology, ecology, natural resources, or wildlife biology.
  • 1-5years of experience working with plants, soil, and wetland identification and characterization.
  • 1-5years of experience conducting fieldwork. Including wildlife and threatened and endangered species habitat surveys and assessments.
  • An interest in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, natural resource conservation and enhancement, and the outdoors is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail orientated and resourceful.
  • Flexible, team-oriented approach.
  • Effective time management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • GIS and GPS knowledge is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
